The Light of the World Clinic’s “Community Cares Cancer Screening Program” is among nine organizations who will split $200,000 in grants to raise awareness about lifesaving services and making them more readily available to Broward residents in need.
The Clinic will use the fund to provide outreach to underserved neighborhoods and bring awareness and educational materials that address the importance of early cancer detection. The grant will also enable the clinic to provide free breast, cervical, prostate, and skin cancer screenings to qualified uninsured low-income residents of Broward County.
Since 2016, the Community Foundation has provided more than $3 million to fight cancer. Thanks to support from fundholders, it invests in opportunities to advance local cancer research that makes lifesaving clinical trials, precision medicine and targeted therapies accessible to Broward cancer patients. They also strive to enable accessibility to revolutionary discoveries in cancer therapy and provide support systems for all Broward cancer patients. In addition to this new call for cancer-fighting proposals, during 2025, the Foundations has already approved $900,000 in new support – spread over three years – for cutting-edge research and treatments. It’s all made possible by the dedicated philanthropists who partner with us to shape a brighter future for the community.
