Light of the World Clinic is proud to announce that its President and CEO, Sandra Lozano Barry, has been reappointed to a second two-year term on the Board of Directors of the Broward Regional Health Planning Council (BRHPC) by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. Her new term will run from October 9, 2026, through October 9, 2028.

Established in 1982, BRHPC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and delivering innovative health and human services at the national, state, and local levels. Through planning, direct services, evaluation, and capacity building, the organization works to improve health outcomes and address the evolving needs of the community. Its direct service programs provide essential support to uninsured and underinsured, low-income Broward County residents.

Barry has served as President and CEO of Light of the World Clinic since 2001 and has played a central role in the organization’s growth and continued success. Under her leadership, the clinic has expanded patient services, strengthened community partnerships, and increased its capacity to meet the healthcare needs of Broward County’s growing uninsured population.

Her leadership also reflects a strong commitment to responsible fiscal stewardship. In 2025, Light of the World Clinic directed 86% of its funding to programs, while 8% supported administrative functions and 6% was dedicated to fundraising.

In addition to her leadership at the clinic, Barry is actively engaged in the community and serves on several boards and committees focused on improving health, wellness, and access to essential services. Her reappointment to the BRHPC Board will allow her to continue bringing the perspective of Broward County’s nonprofit healthcare safety net—and the uninsured patients it serves—to regional health planning and policy discussions.

Before joining Light of the World Clinic, Barry owned a consulting firm that advised medical manufacturing companies and Fortune 500 corporations.

“Serving on the BRHPC Board is both an honor and an important opportunity to advocate for individuals and families who continue to face barriers to healthcare,” Barry said. “I am grateful to the Broward County Board of County Commissioners for its confidence in me, and I look forward to continuing our collaborative work to strengthen access to health and human services throughout Broward County.”
